Yoga practice is not about self-denial. It should be fun and joyful. You don’t have to deny your senses. You have taste buds for a reason, so you can enjoy eating—just be sure that it’s the right amount and that it doesn’t create indigestion. Give the senses the proper enjoyment, in the proper way, at the proper time. There’s no harm in eating tasty foods. But don’t eat just for the sake of taste. When you eat, enjoy the taste. Eat for the sake of eating, and, while eating, enjoy the taste. On the other hand, if you eat only for the sake of the taste, then trouble comes. And that’s why you should know your limitation. Yoga is a joy, it’s to be enjoyed. Yoga should never be a hardship.- Swami Satchidananda
