If you have ever made the peace or victory sign (index and middle fingers representing a V) you are practicing the ancient art of mudra. A yoga mudra is a way of holding your hand and fingers to create a specific physical, mental and spiritual effect. There are at least 28 mudras in the yoga literature—including Shuni mudra. Shuni mudra is associated with Saturn (discipline) and the law of karma as well as the element ether (akash). Use this mudra to experience patience, determination and courage.

Sit quietly with the tops of your hands resting on your thighs or knees. Press the tip of your middle finger to the tip of your thumb. Exert enough pressure to feel the flow of energy, but not whiten your fingertips. Close your eyes, meditate on your breath and focus on allowing courage and patience to be present in your life. Shuni mudra is perfect for tapping in to your “inner teacher” and experiencing your authentic self!
